Celebrating Black History Month with Gratitude, Purpose, and Progress

Black History Month is a time to honor the legacy, resilience, and excellence of Black individuals who have shaped our communities through leadership, innovation, and service. At Crimson Wellness LLC, we proudly recognize the importance of Black leadership in behavioral health and the lasting impact it has on the people we serve.

This month, we celebrate not only national leaders and historical figures, but also the trailblazers within our own organization—those who have helped create a culture of compassion, accountability, and community-centered care.

Black Leadership in Behavioral Health Matters

Behavioral health is more than a service—it is a lifeline. It requires empathy, cultural awareness, and an understanding of the lived experiences of those who are navigating mental health challenges, substance use recovery, trauma, and life instability.

Black leaders in behavioral health have long played a critical role in advocating for equitable access to care, challenging stigma, and creating safe spaces for healing. Their leadership represents strength, representation, and progress.

At Crimson Wellness, Black leadership is not just acknowledged—it is embedded into the foundation of who we are.

Honoring Our Co-Founders

Crimson Wellness LLC is proud to be co-founded by visionary leaders who are committed to transforming mental health support through innovation, professionalism, and community empowerment.

Tahiyya Martin, LCMHC – Co-Founder

As a Co-Founder of Crimson Wellness LLC, Tahiyya Martin, LCMHC represents leadership rooted in clinical excellence and dedication to mental wellness. Her commitment to ethical practice, client-centered care, and strong program development continues to shape the standards and expectations of our organization.

Her leadership reflects a clear message: quality behavioral health care should be accessible, structured, and grounded in dignity.

Through her work, Crimson Wellness has continued to strengthen its impact in the community by supporting individuals and families through evidence-based services, advocacy, and professional accountability.

Dr. Jarvis Lessane, PhD – Co-Founder

Crimson Wellness also honors Dr. Jarvis Lessane, PhD, whose leadership and vision have been instrumental in the growth of the organization. As a Co-Founder, Dr. Lessane has contributed to the development of innovative programming and strategic community-based service delivery.

His commitment to behavioral health advocacy and long-term sustainability reflects the mission of Crimson Wellness: to create systems of care that uplift individuals while strengthening the communities they live in.

In recognition of his contributions, we are proud to highlight February 25th as an honorable mention day in appreciation of Dr. Lessane’s leadership and continued impact.

Recognizing the Leaders Who Carry the Mission Forward

Black History Month is also a time to honor the many Black professionals within Crimson Wellness who contribute to our mission every day. From Peer Support Specialists and Qualified Professionals to clinicians, supervisors, and administrative staff—our organization thrives because of the dedication, lived experience, and resilience of the people who serve.

Their work is often unseen by the public, but deeply felt by the members and families whose lives are changed through support, advocacy, and care coordination.

Our Commitment to Equity and Community Wellness

Crimson Wellness LLC remains committed to:

  • Promoting culturally responsive behavioral health services

  • Supporting equitable access to care

  • Providing professional development opportunities for staff
