Mental Health Action Day

Posted on May 15th, 2025

Here is a list of actions you can take to support your friends, peers, or loved ones because the best way to help is to A.S.K. – Acknowledge, Support, Keep-in-Touch. Try at least one (or more!) before the day is over and post about it using #MentalHealthAction #AskToHelp

Acknowledge

Create a supportive space by letting them know you’re here for them.

• Give your friend your full attention
• Validate the person’s feelings
• Thank them for having the courage to come to you • Respect their boundaries

Support

Validate their feelings and ask what they need
• Let your friends take the lead in telling you what they need • Be curious and ask questions
• Remind them that you care for them and that they can talk

to you
• Collaborate on what additional support looks like for them

Keep-in-Touch

Check back in regularly and consistently.
• Send them a quick message to check in with them
• Schedule a time to grab dinner and catch up
• Offer to go on a walk or a hike together
• Call or video chat to connect even when far away
• Try bonding over an activity you’re both interested in
